Microsoft Band: an afternoon with Windows Phone's first wearable | Pocketnow

For years, we’ve been dying to know what the people behind the Surface could do in the wearable arena. So when we got the news that Windows Phone’s first smartwatch/fitness bracelet was coming down the pipe, we headed on down to our friendly neighborhood Microsoft Store and snapped one up for ourselves. Join us for a first look at Microsoft Band!
Clarification: the Microsoft Band is capable of low-power display mode that keeps the screen on (not shown). Pressing the button is still required to bring the device out of this low-power mode, however.

Where do you get the apps
Does hello cortana work in it
what's the name brand that bracelet
what's the name of that brand bracialetto
dont like it!
Looks like a solution searching for a problem to solve.
What phone you have?
Why hasn't the Blackberry watch come out yet?
microsoft band vs pebble time for ios
Michael how about the pebble watch I have seen some information and it is much nicer??
Have! and with Band Calendar MeTile. Pretty cool!
@Paul Brambilla Thank you. If you dont even know what you are reviewing, then shut the hell up. To many clueless idiots acting like experts on stuff they have no clue about. Complete jack ass.
C'mon guys it's the first start…don't forget….microsoft is who gave us a really awesome OS …and windows phones…and that ever-wanted CORTANA…The most amazing P.A
It's meant to be worn while at the gym or working out, not while at the office.
I just bought the band, 2 of them for me and my girlfriend. It is amazing!
I can't wait for a good looking smart/fitness watch…this is so clunky and ugly.
HELLO I HAVE WINDOWS PHONE HTC 8X AND I WANT SMARTWATCH UNDER 40 $ AND CAN YOU GIVE ME ADICE WHICH IS BTTER?
It probably feels so thick because it has width on both sides. Most smart-bands or -watches have flat bottoms, where the heart-rate monitor would be at the top, next to the charging port. I can see how Microsoft is perhaps trying to get better readings of heart rates, but as a product that's meant to be warn for the majority of the day, it seems far too cumbersome. It also wouldn't be the best choice for sleeping in, either, though it's probably the best hybrid fitness/smart-watch device on the market today. (Available for Windows Phone, at least!)
My upvote was for the review, not the watch. Very well done.
the band is really nice…
It's been three months yet no full review were posted yet. What happen?
This guy never talked about the standalone gps
You can;t buy it, it is not available. Good product, lousy senior management

◥⊙▲⊙▲⊙▲⊙▲⊙▲⊙▲⊙◤.. / Thumbs up if you think this watch is pretty cool
Hi I was wondering what your current windows phone strata screen layout is and what wallpaper you use
Terrible design, it look like a ticket you ware on a Music concert or something lakie that, but a good idea.. I like the function in that watch, But make it look like a normal watch for people, not yuppies… and please do not Connect anything on a watch with a cable, all have to be Wireless also chargeing perhaps like solar panels or wireless option like cell phones.
I rather stick to my Polar Loop and my phone stays in my pocket…
I can buy and install Linux later on it?… 😀
I would use it if I got it for free.
Had mines for about a 1.5/months now and I love it. I'm not a small guy with girl wrists so I like having a band of this size. Wouldn't replace it with any other band
Microsoft doesn't like the idea of a whatch, or something like that…
Should be thinner, no bezel and a better screen, probably expanding with some kind of future tech, than wearables will be cool
Weak screen still small I want to see not go Chinese make screen pop out ur welcome..
Well made video that is honest and didn't make unnecessary drastic claims to get views.
As an iOS user, I'd rather have this than a Pebble, if my Moto X worked, it's not bad for its form factor
Good laik
Oh so great, this will prepare you all for the shackles of virtual slavery and your new RFID chip. Enjoy the New World Order.
Nice honest first impression
i would love if it is less cheaper maybe around $80-99
even iam a nokia and a microsoft fan but this thing did not catch my attention at all i even don't recommend it
wow… that's it…. a big honking black band that MS wants me to wear on my wrist. No style at all. To tell you the truth looks like one of those tracking ankle bracelets they stick on criminals.
Microsoft is getting worse and worse
..Runkeeper Elite? Runkeeper is no longer supported/available on Windows Phone!
Let's drop the word smartwatch or watch. Microsoft calls it a 'Band'. Yes, it tells the time, but thats not it's primary function. Pocketnow should know this!
Who in their right mind would wear a watch that only lasted two days? As a band, I would wear it in conjunction with a watch (automatic one).
I would like to know how the band handles work-out scenarios? i had a moto 360 but the heart rate monitor was useless, and i know it is not its core function, but can the band be used to give a somewhat exact accurate depiction of my workout, like the LG heart rate earphones?
Strangely enough I like this more than any of Sony wearables, even I am confused by the sentiment since I have the Smartband. The biggest allure to this device is the heartrate monitor which any of Sony 's offerings have.
I'll watch the space though but as a value proposition this is catching my attention.
If this can display Called ID then why cant the Pebble App ? Eagerly waiting for Pebble to launch their official support for windows phone. With Android Wear it would be a good win for pebble too.
